The second phase of training for members of the Civic Education Coordination Committee on electoral preparations has begun
On Monday, May 25, 2026, the National Electoral Commission launched the second phase of training for members of the Civic Education Coordination Committee on local government elections, or decentralized elections.
The training began in three (3) provinces: The Eastern Province, the Northern Province and The City of Kigali. It will last for a week, from May 25 to 29, 2026, and will be held at the Sector level, bringing together members of the Civic Education Coordination Committee working at the Sector level and those of the Cell level.
The coordination committees are composed of the following:
At the cell level, they are 8 people:
1. The Executive Secretary of the Cell (Coordinator);
2. The Vice President of the ‘Intore’ at Cell level (Vice-Coordinator);
3. The Polling station Officer (Secretary);
4.The Representative of Polling Staffs
5. One opinion leader at Cell level;
6. National Women's Council (NWC) Coordinator
7. Coordinator of the National Youth Council (NYC)
8. Coordinator of the National Council of People with Disabilities (NCPD)
At the sector level, they are composed of 12 people:
1. The Executive Secretary (Coordinator);
2. The Election Officer (Deputy Coord.);
3. The Civic Education Officer (Secretary);
4. One member of the Sector Council
5. The Representative of ‘Intore’ Committee
6. The Chairperson of the ‘Intore’ Committee;
7. One Opinion Leader at Sector level
8. Head of the Private Sector Federation (PSF) at sector level;
9. The Director in charge of Education at Sector level;
10. The Coordinator of the National Women's Council (NWC);
11. The Coordinator of the National Youth Council (NYC);
12. Coordinator of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD).
These committee members are trained on their responsibilities, Structure and Functioning of Decentralized Administration Institutions, and their Collaboration with Various Electoral Partners.
In the Southern and Western provinces, the training of members of these Committees is scheduled from Monday, June 01 to 05, 2026.
